Job Description

We are currently seeking a Chromatogram Unit Leader to work within our Quality Control Laboratory, involving:

  • Leading and managing the Finished Products Team of dedicated Scientists;

  • Ensuring all finished products are tested, handled and processed in an accurate and timely manner;

  • Being an expert 'Scientific' consultant for the Team and the QC Laboratory; and

  • Providing highly experienced analytical services in Finished Product testing.

You will ideally have experience in the Pharmaceutical/Complementary Medicine Industry with strong leadership, communication skills (verbal and written), customer and relationship skills, exceptional understanding of Finished Product testing and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

The role specifically involves:

  • Training and developing staff to maintain, improve and apply knowledge to motivate them, achieve outcomes and be technically competent in their roles

  • Ensuring that all finished product testing is completed according to requirements and agreed turnaround times

  • Maintaining, improving and applying your experience/knowledge to benefit the QC Laboratory and the Finished Goods Team

  • Ensuring all equipment used in the lab is accurately maintained and calibrated at the prescribed intervals

  • Ensuring all work is conducted to required standards in compliance with all audits

  • Ensuring that Occupational Health & Safety guidelines are implemented and adhered to at all times, including adherence to the Hazardous Substance Regulations

  • Ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner

  • Ensuring that all jobs are conducted according to GMP requirements and the Company’s Quality System

  • Contributing to the overall management of the laboratory

  • Influencing/leading a productive team working to achieve the agreed outcomes

  • Conducting staff performance review

  • Contributing to customer satisfaction

  • Tertiary qualification in required field, e.g, Bachelor of Science, Chemistry or equivalent

  • Comprehensive understanding and practical application of cGMP and cGLP and associated policies, systems, procedures and processes

  • Sound understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, with particular focus on VMS and OTC products

  • Proven ability to manage, empower and lead a team; ideally an analytical team

  • High standard of computer literacy and numerical aptitude

  • Demonstrated knowledge of analytical techniques with a high level of experience in HPLC and GC; Waters Empower software is highly advantageous

  • Extensive experience and excellence in data analysis, interpretative and reporting skills, especially with regards to finished product testing

  • Natural motivation and curiosity to learn new skills and apply in practical ways

  • Individual and professional accountability to accept responsibility for self and your team

  • Positively influence, engage and inspire your team to achieve schedules, outcomes and results

  • Enthusiasm and proven ability to develop your people
