Material Prep Operator
The Material Prep Operator reports to the Production Supervisor.
The Material Prep Operators weighs and mixes raw materials ad per batch record instruction to provide finished fill to encapsulation to meet the shop floor schedule. Under supervision, the operator will prepare, blends and mixe batches of material by operating blending equipment and completing batch paperwork according to Standard Operating Procedures and applying current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Catalent St. Petersburg is our primary softgel development and manufacturing facility in North America with capacity of 18 billion capsules per year. The featured RP Scherer softgel technology is a proven oral drug delivery solution to enhance bioavailability of poorly soluble Rx and OTC drug candidates. Non-gelatin based OptiShell® and Vegicaps® capsules expand the range of molecules into softgel, ideal for challenging fill formulation. Within the Catalent network, we offer a broad range of integrated formulation and analytical services to solve your most difficult development and manufacturing challenges.
Measures and weighs, by manual and computerized scales, ingredients used in material batches and accurately completes documentation related to the Material process.
Operates equipment to mixes material batches, pulls and stages material for encapsulation process and delivers material to encapsulation.
Washes, inspects and sanitizes material receivers and equipment and maintains a clean work area.
Handles non-hazardous, hazardous and DEA materials and/or wastes.
Notifies Supervision immediately in the event that there is any deviation from the batch record, SOP or potential production event.
Cross - training to perform tasks, operate equipment and maintain the necessary documentation in other production departments may be required.
Depending on shift staffing level and/or the workload, an operator could be assigned to perform tasks in an area different than her/his primary position/business unit.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Previous manufacturing experience and work in a GMP regulated industry preferred.
Successful completion of Lung Capacity test and ability to wear respirator required
Basic computer skills including Windows navigation and data entry.
Individual may be required to sit intermittently, stand regularly, walk regularly and consistently lift 0-30 pounds for a work period of up to 12-hours.
Ability to push and/or pull on average 500 kg (approximately 1,100 pounds).
Vision requirements include ability to differentiate color (Pass the Ishihara Color Vision Screening) and obtain 20/30 acuity in both far and near vision in each eye with or without corrective lenses. For Catalent’s in-house screening, the acceptable score is to identify at least 4 of 6 numbers in the circles.
Read written documents and frequent use of a computer monitor.
Required to operate industrial machinery.
Must be able to access manufacturing floor.
