Senior Accountant

Provides technical guidance, assigns, organizes, and controls activities in the daily routine tasks. Assist in month-end close process.

Position Summary

The position will have a variety of responsibilities involving the financial reporting & control of our Pharmaceutical Development site in Somerset, NJ. Includes managing the business by participating in business planning, budgeting process, performing all facets of cost accounting, and completing through production analysis.

The Senior Accountant reports to the Operations Finance Manager.

In concert with Catalent’s Patient First philosophy, this position is key in our

efforts toward continuous improvement of our processes & information which will

allow quality drug products to reach patients safely and efficiently.

The Role (daily responsibilities)

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Create and distribute key revenue reporting

  • Oversee weekly Revenue Recognition meetings with Project Management

  • Manage and oversee Customer Pass-Through Revenue Process

  • Create and distribute revenue variances reports to management

  • Oversee A/R Aging and DSO, calculate Bad Debt Reserve on a monthly basis

  • Prepare monthly forecast schedules and complete variance analysis on a monthly basis

  • Fixed Assets

  • Assist with the financial analysis of all potential Fixed Asset projects

  • Oversee and track approved projects against initial budge. Provide updates to site and divisional management

  • Ensure depreciation expense is accurate and proper for all assets being placed into service

  • Complete semi-annual floor to ledger audit on fixed assets

  • Prepare monthly forecast schedules for CIP spend and provide periodic updates to management

  • General Accounting

  • Prepare and book journal entries as required

  • Reconcile intercompany accounts with other Catalent entities

  • Prepare and load financials into HFM consolidation application

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations

  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting

  • Responsible for assistance with internal and external audit requests

  • Perform ad hoc assignments as designated by the Finance Manager/Director

The Candidate (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years of relevant financial accounting experience

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards systems and pharmaceutical related materials management, recommended.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and related Office software.

  • Must possess good judgment, employee relation skills and the ability to multi-task.
