Job Title: Director, Assistant Controller

Reports to: VP Corporate Controller, Finance

Location: Somerset, NJ

Position Summary

The Director, Assistant Controller will be a key leader in the transformation of internal reporting at Catalent, around direct and indirect costs and cost accounting. The Director, Assistant Controller will work closely with the VP, Corporate Controller and Director, Technical Accounting on technical accounting matters as they arise. This role is a key position within the Catalent Corporate Finance team and has significant interaction and involvement with business unit VPs of Finance and other key functional leaders such as Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, Legal, Corporate Development, Internal Audit and FP&A. This role has a proven track record for growth and opportunity for runway within the company.

The Role

  • Primary responsibility for the SEC reporting process for a public company which includes: Compiling and reviewing all SEC required documents including Form 10-Q’s and Form 10-K’s; Prepares SEC documentation for secondary offerings as necessary; Ensuring the Company has fully assessed and properly accounted for all new relevant accounting standards and technical updates; Remains abreast of recent trends in SEC reporting; Responds to and manages any SEC comment letters received by the Company; Supporting the Investor Relations VP with all SEC reporting implications of investor communications

  • Primarily responsible for internal balance sheet and P&L reporting, which includes: consolidating results monthly, reporting monthly results to CFO and VP’s of Finance, and working with the VP of FP&A and team on consolidating the monthly forecast.

  • Creating consistency across the company related to cost accounting and building out related policies. Build out a P&L reporting structure around direct and indirect costs and create a chart of accounts that will consistently be used across Catalent.

  • Oversees all employee related accounting topics such as pension, deferred compensation, stock compensation, employee stock purchase plan and restructuring across the Company

  • Provides coaching, leadership and review responsibilities a team of three accounting professionals

  • Manages several third-party finance relationships including actuarial specialists and external auditors

  • Continually reviewing the internal process for improvements

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Accounting/Finance; CPA required

  • Seven to 12 years progressive accounting and finance experience in public accounting or with a publicly traded company

  • Previous experience with SEC reporting and working with a multinational complex matrix organization; A solid working understanding of cost accounting and technical accounting is required

  • Must be influential and a good communicator

  • Pharmaceutical or Life Science Industry a plus
